Last Friday morning, I woke up completely exhausted from the Wine and Dine Meet Up but I was really excited to get to the race weekend started. I packed my bag and headed to work. It proved to be harder than I thought it would be to concentrate but somehow I managed to have a productive day. At 4 pm, my sister met me at the office and we made our way over to the ESPN Wide World of Sports for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Health and Fitness Expo.
After we arrived at the ESPN WWOS, we headed straight over to the HP Field House to pick up my race packet. My packet included my race bib, a wristband to get into the Finish Line Party, and a $10 gift card to use at the party. Then we headed over to the Jostens Center to wander around the Expo and pick up my race shirt.
We only had about an hour left before the Expo closed so we made sure to make the most of our time. First, I picked up my race shirt and the gear check bag. Then we headed over to the runDisney merchandise booth. I wanted to check out the official race gear and of course I ended up buying a few more things than I expected. My Vinylmation Mickey needed is final race medal for the year.
When we stopped by the runDisney booth, there was a photographer on hand taking photos with Remy from the movie Ratatouille. I had so much fun with the Tower of Terror photo that I had to take a photo with Remy. We also spent some time checking out the medals for next year’s races. My sister is running the Princess Half Marathon and I wanted her to check out the medal she would be earning at the finish line. The runDisney medals are always a great motivator for me to keep training.
Once we were finished at the Expo, my sister and I headed over to our hotel for the weekend, Disney’s Pop Century Resort. We dropped off our bags in the room and then wandered around the resort. Neither of us have stayed at this resort so we really enjoyed checking out the theming. I couldn’t help but think about all of the silly things from growing up like “Don’t Copy That Floppy!” and the old school laptops.
Eventually, we found ourselves in the Food Court searching for something to eat for dinner. With a half marathon coming up, I decided that I needed to do some carbo-loading. I ordered the Black Bean Burger with fries and it was delicious! After we finished eating, we headed back to the hotel room and I passed out within a few minutes.
